91 f150- 4bt swap

Don't let stock 4bt numbers shy you away from a swap. Over 200 hp can be achieved with no money, or very little depending on pump. I have less than 1k in mods to achieve my power output, plus ~400 for head studs of course.
Fwiw I never average less than 30 with 35 a/t and 3.55's. Ported head/man/turbo and a boost tube help a good bit there.

As far as clutch life goes when I sold my '95 379 two years ago the original clutch had 1,920,000 on it but I attribute that to a good operator (me!) and the 15 speed trans with deep reduction gears that really made it easy on the running gear when starting off on a hill or with a heavy load (of course I never hauled heavy...)

I kinda figured that but I had to ask...

ya this ole girl has a little over a million and we put all the "new guys" in it, they usually aren't easy on the clutch lol

There are two common pumps with these, the ve rotary and the p pump. Either are fine for modest power, p pump is easier for big numbers but it's much less common. There are other pumps that came on the 4bt, like generator and other tool applications, that have very weak pumps and would not be good for a vehicle.
The mods are the same as the 6bts so there is infinite information on what can be done. Well over 200 hp for either 4bt pump is very easy and basically free.

for any kind of towing, a 6bt is normally the best suggestion.
HOWEVER....the obs fords are substantially lighter than their mammoth successors. if youre towing light, which you are, a 4bt with the free mods will do just fine especially if you drive around a lot empty in between tows. stock itll be a turd.
Hercules are just too sluggish to do anything, even normal driving.

Your 350 will handle the weight of the 6bt, you can also pick up a 6bt more readily and cheaper than a 4bt if i had a 350 gaser I would put a 6bt in it. Everyone wants a 4bt right now and people are asking 3k for them when I saw 6bts for 1k all day

Unfortunately the guy I got it from was third hand. He got it from his buddy. They're both Land cruiser guys so it was half way into a land cruiser before I got it. I got the Toyota adapter on it now but I told him I would give it back. I'm hoping that the flywheel will not need to be changed. Is there a way to find out if the flywheel will work? Count the teeth maybe?

flywheel depends on your transmission, youll need one for your trans of choice. I doubt the one you have will work, it likely had some 4 speed hanging off the back. you could buy a cheapo for whichever trans you want, and visually confirm that the one you have can or cant be used.

Yeah. The po replaced the factory one at 100k for no reason with a cheap Chinese one like he did with all other wear parts that I've had to fix. 65k miles later plus a couple times when I've pulled stuff bigger than I should, it's slipping a little. I'd like to put something a little more heavy duty in.
