Would YOU buy a 2008 Job 1?

Long time reader, first time poster! (and yes I did search this first)

Looking for a F-350 Diesel (Dually CC LB - if that matters)

Found a 2008 King Ranch with 88,000 miles but it is a Job 1 (Build Date - 05/07) -- it is at a Ford Dealership and they are asking $30,000 - seems to be in great condition. Has most options I want including Navigation.

Also found a 2008 Lariat with 66,000 miles but is a Job 3 (Build Date - 02/08) -- it is a private owner, second owner and they are asking $28,000 - seems to be in great condition also with a small 1" tear in drivers seat (leather). No Navigation but most other Lariat options.

Any opinions? trying to keep around $30,000 and want the DRW,CC,LB.

Why can't I find any 2009's for sale??

Thanks! Roger

I have a 76k mile Lariat 2008 and I'd buy it again. Your prices are really high though. I'd guess the Lariat is worth 24 retail on a nice day to a blind guy. Dealers really mark them up a lot. Start trash talking the 6.4 but offer a fair price and I bet you'll get your truck a lot cheaper. Go over the trucks and ask for maintenance records. Proof is everything. Proper maintenance is everything in these trucks.

I bought my job 1 pickup around thanksgiving last year. It is a single wheel F350, crew cab king ranch 4x4 and was single owner. I got it for 23k at a Ford dealer here in MT. Besides a failed alternator shortly after I got it, it runs great and has been trouble free.

I did replace radiator as it leaked when it was below zero, but was still very useable as it was. I wanted it taken care of before camp season.

I did the full delete package shortly after getting it.

I have no regrets at all and LOVE my pickup!

Thanks guys!

Anyone else concerned with getting a Job 1 vs. a later edition?

As for prices, these are about normal here in the Midwest, even KBB shows the prices about right for our area.

Those prices are high (at least for what I am used to seeing where I live). My nephew just bought a 2011 F-250 Lariat 4x4 CC 6.7L with 90K miles fully deleted for $33K. And it is fully decked out.

I have a 2008 Job 1 F-250 XLT 4x4 SC 6.4L. Haven't had any substantial problems (other than one that was self imposed). Has 160,000 miles on the ODO.

I think it's always a safer bet to get that latest model year in the series since any know bugs would have been worked out at the factory. But, that being said my truck is still running good. Good luck to you!

I also have a Job 1 6.4. Bought it new in July, 2007...it now has about 51k on it. I'd guess that at least 40k has been pulling my car hauler or toy hauler. I bought it to do the heavy towing, it has done great. I have had the turbos replaced, the well known radiator leak, and a couple exhaust sensors...all under warranty. Other than these, the truck has been perfect. It a dang good-looking truck, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

Was it a brand new crew cab dually King Ranch? Im guessing not.

Anyway,

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Job 1 truck if there were maintenance records and the truck looked good. Just remember that the truck is now 7 years old so expect to do some work/maintenance on it. Seems like the worst part about the 6.4 is the radiator. I would buy 1 if I could find a nice clean 1 with low miles on it, but it would have to be a dually for me as well, Id love to get a new truck but the prices are out of sight.

Good luck,

Sarge

It was not a dually but at what price do king ranch creature comforts justify buying a truck 7 years older for the same price....

Don't get me wrong I drive an OBS 7.3 im not against buying practica.

Guess that's for the buyer to decide....but we're not comparing apples to apples, and truthfully I'm the type of guy that works real hard for my money and if I want to spend it on a KR or a Platinum or whatever I will. That's for me to decide. I love the creature comforts of my Lariat.

I'm not a vinyl floor manual window guy, some like that, good for those people. Just like good for those who want heated and cooled seats.

Sorry for the ...carry on.

Sarge
