FE is Ford Edsel. FT is Ford Truck. At least that is what I have heard over the years.

I was always told the same thing. The FT were based off the FEs but had slight differences and used in industrial applications. We've had several 331s, 361s, and 391s in our old lime trucks. The 391 with a 2 spd rear end was a hoss.
