Stalling problem 87 F150

My 5.0 liter 302 starts and runs good EXCEPT it stalls occasionally in different situations. Sometimes at idle, sometimes at highway speed and sometimes in town driving around. I coast to a stop, turn the key back to the detente position, then it starts up right away no problem. I never lose battery so I know it's not that. I replaced the fuel filter and it runs better but still stalls. I'm thinking of replacing plugs, rotor and distributor cap next. Also ran fuel system cleaner through it as well as fuel injector cleaner. Even tried premium gas to see if higher octane would help. Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks

Sounds more like Fuel pump issues. Either pump or possibly just the relay is failing.

Could be ignition issues also.

It might need a tune up(cap/rotor/wires), but likely not the root cause of problem.

I was going to say PCM, but if it starts back up right away then it most likely rules that out.

Stalling issue

I have two tanks and it happens with both tanks. If each tank has its own pump, would it happen on both? Or is there a single pump on the other side of the relay that might be going bad?

Some older trucks had a 3rd fuel pump on the frame, maybe this is your case, I don't remember when the removed that pump. Also if it's happening with either tank, have you checked your FPR? How long had it been since you changed the Fuel filter? Maybe there's a lot of crap in your tanks, I'd pull the filter and take a look at it or just replace it again, they're not that expensive.

Former owner told me he replaced the cap and rotor. I pulled it this weekend and it is brand new, so he was telling the truth. I checked the air filter and intake and it was loose so I tightened all of that down. It ran okay for a few days then it started stalling again today. I'm thinking maybe it's the ignition coil or fuel pressure regulator as Mike1 mentioned. Which one would you replace first? FPR I'm thinking. I noticed it happens either when I come to a stop or accelerate around 45 MPH if that helps diagnosis. I hate to keep replacing stuff ***** nilly but it doesn't come up with any codes or lights on the dashboard.

still having a problem

OK. I've replaced the fuel filter, fuel relay, ignition module and a sticky EGR valve, plus replaced a cracked plug. It ran great for a week and then the stalling happened again. Thinking maybe the computer next? Any ideas anyone?
