Are blower motors compatible between different makes?

For example, I have a blower motor in my dead ford explorer that I want to take out and get a mechanic to put into my chevy astro van. Is this possible? I'm about to take the explorer for scrap because the transmission died. Any advice will be appreciated.

Blower motors can be had for less than $60 brand new---not sure paying someone to install a used part is all that financially wise.

Probably not---just buy the part that's designed to fit the application.

Maybe, but not likely. One way to check would be to look up aftermarket part numbers for both vehicles and see if they match.

For something like this, it could be a simple change like the electrical connector. You could look for some OEM detailed specs (size, speed, bolt hole layout), but those might be hard to find.

Hope this helps.
