heater hose routing on flathead v8

this is on a 50 with a 8ba but would be applicable question to all flathead v8's:

At this time i don't plan on running a heater mainly because i don't have one... what do i need to do with the heater hose connections off the passenger head and water pump on the passenger side? I see that I have a couple options.
option #1 thread a plug into the head connection and cap off the water pump outlet with a rubber plug.
option #2 loop a heater hose from the water pump to the outlet on the head. ideally i would prefer option #2 just because it would look cleaner. Is there any benefit to keeping the head looped to the water pump with a section of heater hose. in my mind it seems that it could help with cooling?

thanks!

below is a photo i took off google showing what i think it is the factory routing

Do you have a valve on your outlet on the head? If you do, closing the valve and running a hose loop is fine. Otherwise you are putting fully hot water back into the inlet of the WP on the PS, will definitely not help with cooling.
