EBPV delete turned into PITA

EBPV delete turned into PITA
So I decided to do the EBPV delete on my 96. Bought several new, 12pt 8mm & 12pt 5/16 sockets to find one that fits the bolts best. Bolts are too far gone to remove (rounded out or rusted). So I start pulling turbo. Snapped passenger side manifold bolt and the passenger side stud came loose instead of the nut. No issues on drivers side. So now I need to pull the up pipe collector right? Looks like I can get at 3 bolts fairly easily on it but the top one on the drivers side doesn't have much clearance. Any tips on removal? Am I even going about this right? Also what parts am I going to need so I can start ordering from Riff Raff. Simple projects never go easy for me lol.

No they usually don't. I just had my up pipes out, un do the passenger side from the collector (a very tedious process, ask me how I know) and then you can un to,the drivers one at the manifold and pull the pipe and collector out together. Any way you slice it it can be a major pita. Lots of patience and penatrant are good things to have.

That collector will break real easy if you start prying on it. Also make sure you use some heat and penetrating fluid on the up pipes if you plan on going in form underneath, the up pipe bolts that connect to the exhaust manifolds are expensive from the dealer. Last plan on changing out the donuts on the up pipes that go into the collector, they are probably toast.

Thank you for the advice guys. I ended up unbolting the up pipes from the manifold and the back of the collector. Tapped a pry bar between the collector and up pipe flanges. Came apart no problem. Pulled turbo and collector together. Once it was out I drove a 9/32 12 pt socket onto the 3 bolts holding the EBPV housing and they came out. I also have the collector soaking in on blaster. I'm just waiting on all my parts to come from Riff Raff now.
