Slim - that really sucks.... I hope his insurance will cover the whole 9 yards... If you turn it in on your insurance you may well get stuck with the deductible....

Looks like a nice Cobra in the back ground, hope he doesn't have the same thing happen to him.

Well I had to take an hour off work today, in the middle of the day to go down and get the appraisal done. It was the shop Progressive works with, and they quoted me a 3 day job and just north of $1K.

Said they have to take my tool box off, the bed rail trim off, and then take the bed off, plus replace the "4x4" sticker on the rear fender. They did say they would repaint and reclear coat the entire fender.

The "bad" news is, shockingly, the insurance co. still hasn't heard back from the person that did said damage, and the rep at the body shop said they couldn't proceed until they do...

Oh, really?...

So I sent the claims adjuster a reminder email that I did indeed work in the same place as the other party, and if necessary, I would be more than happy to "pursue contact" directly. I also included the pictures I took, and reminded him that the police officer that was on scene heard him admit fault, and noted in his daily log that the damage lined up.

Hopefully this gets some action moving before my anger takes over...

The saga continues...

Slim - something just doesn't sound right here... I've seen damage like that pulled out in under 3 hours with PDR...
Admittedly it sure sucks that it happened, but someone at that bodyshop needs to have their butt kicked... It is just not that bad from what your pictures show...

Oh I think the dent is simple enough to pound out with a dolly and a hammer. Plenty of room behind the dent for the dolly. They're pulling the bed for the repainting and the reclear coating of the fender.

If the paint is not broken, a good PDR guy can pull that dent without painting...
Google "Youtube PDR dent repair" and you will be amazed...

My wife's car was a dark cranberry color and caught out in a hail storm. The poor thing looked like a golf ball with some divots as much as 3" across. More than 100 divots. It took the PDR guy two days, but when we got the car back, it was spotless and perfect...

I'm sure there is a bit of gravy for the techs though.

Finally got the insurance company to finish their hand wringing and approve the claim. Spoke to them Friday, they said I could drop my truck off today, which I did this morning. Problem is, no one bothered to tell the body shop I was coming. Great. So now it's "maybe" 3 days.

Meanwhile, they had my rental car waiting for me, and I splurged and "upgraded" 2, that's right 2 whole sizes up in cars.

I went from driving a pack of gum, to driving a basketball shoe.

I'm used to being able to see over the top of most cars...

Now I can almost look under them.

Sigh, hopefully 3 days!

You should get payment for pain and suffering for having to drive a car

How hard did the guy hit you to dent the truck?

A few years ago I was sitting in the truck in a parking lot and a lady in a ranger pulls up to the passenger side. She opened the door, hard, into the side of the truck ... but because she was parked so close, she couldn't get out. She did it a few more times, quite hard, and after like the 3rd or 4th time I went over and told her she wasn't going to move a 7500 pound truck with her door.

But she didn't dent anything.
