Cab Swap '86 F250 diesel; need advice!

I didn't pay enough attention to the underside of my cab for a long time....when I finally realized the cab was sagging on the driver's side, it was too late for any patching, so I'm looking to replace the cab now.

My questions:
1.Will any F-series 80-86 fit?
2. It'll save a lot of trouble to find a cab from a diesel, right? (in terms of wiring harness)
3. Will any newer cab work? (someone tried to sell me a cab from an early 90's truck; didn't know if it would fit). Any other advice & tips more than welcome, thanks all!

Any cab will fit. You will need to transfer your wiring over to the cab if it's a gas truck cab. One of the major differences in the cabs is whether it has A/C or not. If you have A/C and get a non-A/C cab, you will have lots of holes to cut and ductwork to transfer over.

The later cabs will work but they have some mounting differences in the dash. You will need to swap dashes if you get a newer cab.

So I guess it depends on how much work you want to do. A diesel cab with the correct tranny and the proper equipment (A/C or not) would be the least amount of work. It goes up from there.

If your truck is a manual shift, you might want to get a cab that was a auto tranny. The firewalls crack on the manual shift trucks, so a auto would not have this cracking and you could put the re-enforcing plate in there when you swapped cabs. Of course you would have to swap pedals and drill some holes for the clutch master.
