Maximum Tire Size

What is the biggest tire I can run on my 2012 F-250 Lariat without any modifications or the tires rubbing?

On the OEM rims I believe it's 285's..x ? x? I know that not all brands carry this size. I believe Nitto or Toyo carry's this size.

FWIW, I have Nitto 295's on stock truck and rims and love them. No problems.

I had the Toyo 295/65R20s on for about a week before I got leveled and they did not rub.

After I got leveled, I added some mud flaps, and the front tires barely touch the flaps at full lock.

Unsure what wheels you have but for the 4x4 model I run 295/70R18's without any modifications. Most lariat's are 20's but not all.

Thanks for the information guys. But will a 295/65/20 throw off my speedometer, if so can I change the tire size in my settings?

My speedo is off 8% with the 295 tires . But the factory tires were a couple of mph under, so the net result is I show 70 mph but gps reads 73 mph

OK so if 295 is the tallest I can go without rubbing, whats the widest I can go on the factory 20" Rim.

You can look at the tire manufactures websites for recommended wheels for various tires widths. The factory wheels are 8" wide. I got after market wheels of 9" width because the 295/65r20 recommend something wider than the 8" for it's optimum wheel width.

There are folks who run the 295's on the factory 8" wheels. I tow heavy and am concerned about squeezing a tire under load. Their tread life doesn't last as long. If you run empty most of the time, the 8" squeeze is not a big deal. If you are loaded. it is.

I am thinking about 37s on stock 8" wheels. For example, Mickey Thompson ATZP3 in 37x12.5R20. This is only .5" under recommended minimum rim width for that tire (8.5" - 11"). What are the issues that need to be dealt with? I am willing to go to a minimalist aftermarket bumper (e.g. ADD bumper) to solve front bumper bracket rubbing.

If I could find a narrower 37" tire, I would go with that, but I don't think it exists...

I'm sure others with more knowledge will chime in, But the big problem with using a narrow rim is that you squeeze the wide tire onto a narrow rim and its now difficult to get the tread flat against the road. This causes it to wear faster than it should. Especially if loaded.. If you run empty, not as big a deal. But if you carry a load. your tires already wear fast as is, I don't need them wear out any faster.
