got my van windows tinted in trade

so i went to a house that had a sewer ejector pump malfunctioning. it was going to cost a pretty penny to fix.. they were ok with that but they wanted to do some bartering..well i love bartering especially when i still make a decent amount of $$$ on the job ontop of the barter.. i ended up getting my van windows tinted ( $300 value ) as the home owner owned a tinting company and to think i was already shopping around for prices to pay to have this done.. man the world works in fun ways

5% on the back 4 and the front visor and then 26% on the driver and passenger windows.. the tint on the sides is darker than i thought it would be but its ok i like it

Nice! Any time I get a different vehicle, the first thing I do is call my tint guy for an appointment.

Window tint is practically required here in central Florida.

Not sure if you were asking me or the OP but I'll chime in: it is hard for me to see at night with my dark tint, especially because I am colorblind. I often have to roll my windows down when making sharp turns.

I was asking anyone.....it seems unsafe to tint since it limits your night vision.
Sunglasses make more sense.

well this tint is actualy very light compared to my car .. my car has 5% all round and that is hard on a dark street to see out the sides .. but in a city there is enough light illuminating the area's around to see everything... and i dont really do alot of night work ... as a service plumber... majority of the calls are day calls and plus i have realy good sensitive to light eyes.... i actualy wear my sunglasses on overcast days .. but at night i can see like a cat

you are effectively wearing blinders.

Thats great, I had limo put over the factory limo glass in my 15 passenger, it's really dark, yes it can be expensive, but pays off, makes it cooler inside.

No it isn't, it is because the van is darker, less light coming in, so you can't see in, you can see in when there is light inside, no secret in that.

I used to have dark tints on my truck but had it replaced. I can hardly see at night.

Are you unfamiliar with window tint?

It's weird that you are asking how it works, and it's also weird that you are 'callingBS' on other peoples claims of its effectiveness.

Tinting front windows is illegal in Michigan.

As a bicyclist (and prez of a large bicycle club with hundreds of cyclists) who has motorcyclist friends, making eye contact with the driver of a vehicle stopped at a stop sign or traffic light is critical to staying alive. With tint, there is no way to tell that the driver is looking at you or writing a text as he prepares to kill you. Not a big deal if I'm in a car but if I'm on a bicycle or motorcycle, I lose every time. Just went to a funeral for a dear friend killed on his bike by an on-duty cop in Hawaii...cop "didn't see" the cyclist. (Probably had his face screwed into a laptop screen.)

I have lost too many friends on bicycles and motorcycles to be even remotely sympathetic to motorists who choose to break the law in order to look "cool". Rear window tint is fine and it is legal in Michigan (since you are not even required to have any windows behind the front seat on a cargo van). Wear sunglasses if sun coming in the front windows bothers you.

I will note that we experienced cyclists ride with lights and bright clothing, but kids or inexperienced cyclists (perhaps your own kids or grandkids) are the ones most likely to be riding a bike or walking in the road, in the dark, dressed in dark clothing. Yes, they are stupid but they don't deserve a death sentence for being stupid.

George
