73-79 Ford trucks vs 71-88 jeep trucks
#2
I've owned both of them, & have owned my 79 F150 4wd 351 auto for close to 30 years. I had an 87 Jeep J10 4wd 360 auto for a year or so maybe 15 years ago.
The Jeep was an interesting truck. 4 wheel drive, but sat as low as a 2 wd, really nice for loading heavy loads in the bed, which I did almost every time I drove it. Road like a luxury car, but handled 4000 pounds in the bed like it wasn't there. Steered & tracked so much better than my F150. The AMC Jeep 360 had way more power than the 351M, got slightly better mileage. I liked the Jeep (Chrysler sourced) transmission better in some ways, but it had a quirk or two. Interesting truck all around. I bought the Jeep to fix some things & flip it, that's why I didn't have it long.
