New project. 67 Mercury M100 4x4. Numbers matching truck.

Hey all, this is my 67 Mercury M100 4x4 with 352 V8 i thought i'd show off. Has Dana 60 rear, Dana 44 front, Dana 31 t-case. Hubs work properly as well as 4x4 system. I found it on a farm in Alberta this past February and bought it for a case of beer. Was sitting at the farm for 25+ years and was only used to put around the field a bit. Its all original except bumpers, seat and mirror. Numbers matching truck as well. Runs excellent. All gauges and lights work! Drives pretty nice to with minor steering play. Figured i'd show it off to all of you! I've slowly started restoring it, will progress more now that our cold weather has passed.

That thing is cool as hell. Are you going to upgrade it as you do the restoration, or are you doing a pretty straight up factory restoration?

Nice find and a 4x4 to boot. Sweet.

"Numbers" matching"? NOT.

It might be "originally equipped" but the term "numbers matching" applied to Fords, with very few exceptions like K-Code Mustangs, is inaccurate.

The closest with Fords is "period correct". Meaning, date code stamps and component castings are accurate based on the vehicle's production date or configuration. For example, a C8 or C9 could be correct for a '69 truck but a D0, D1, or D2 would not be correct.

Sorry, but that aircleaner and the electronic ignition are not matching to the original 67. They are newer. The rear axle is most likely a Ford 9 inch, and the transfer case is a Dana 21. I bet that with the electronic ignition that the block is a 75-76 360. Check to see what the engineering numbers are on the intake manifold and block to confirm a C7 code. Post the info on the door plate to check to see what equipment it has.

But, but, but the seller said it was "numbers matching"! :More like, "Your purchase price match the exorbitant asking price. Sold!"

It's like a seller claiming "Rust-free" when in fact it is "Rust? Free!"

Seriously, I think it's a cool rig and I hope ya still got a good deal for a relatively rare/obscure Merc F100 4x4.

Let the revivation begin!!!

Here is a reference photo for the correct painted bumper, painted mirrors and painted hubcaps, which are actually harder to find in good condition than chrome bumpers and stainless mirrors and stainless hubcaps. Nice project!

Ha! Then I hope my next find is Jimmy Hoffa.

I was perusing the yard one day and happened upon a '67 F250. I gave it a quick look, didn't think much of it and walked passed... then I turned around for one last glance and noticed its painted bumper... a perfectly straight, undented OEM bumper.

It was amazing.... it came home with me and I slapped it on my patina'd '70 whose very nice chrome bumper went on my '71. Serendipity.

Hey all. I have checked this truck through. Maybe the correct way of saying it is not numbers matching but the engine is for sure a 352 with couple upgraded parts perhaps. But i've had it checked and it is in fact a 352, not a 360. Also, the rear end is not a 9 inch it is in fact a dana 60. Im aware the air cleaner isnt original. nor the bumper, mirror or seat. The rest of the truck is all there. Definitely not rust free lol. I am excited about this project, will keep stock. There are mounts still on it for original style mirrors. I've also checked the vin code to see what equipment it came with in factory. I'll get a vin plate pic later on. This is a learning curve for me as i am not a mechanic. So every bit of advice is helpful so long as its freindly.

He said he got the truck for the cost of a case of beer. --that's right next to 'free' in my book.
