Ok ... I'm about 80% done with my CV front end swap (all thats left is motor mounts and steering) then it dawns on me ... when the 390 block gets back from the machine shop, its probably not going to fit with that stock front sump oil pan.

So I think, OK, no big deal, I'll order a rear sump ... but DANG. $300+ ?!?! For an OIL PAN??? I start scouring the internet for other solutions ... then I also realize that I can find no photographic evidence of a big block FE sitting in one of these CV front end swap trucks from the 70s.

So I'm open to suggestions on how to do this. And preferably NOT for $300+

I've read that the FT oil pans had rear sump - but when I look at those pans that I have a couple beads on for about $100, I notice that it looks like the whole thing is as deep as the sump ALL the way, so its basically a big box. I get the feeling this doesn't solve my problem any??? Am I stuck getting some kind of $300 super off road pan if I want my truck to hold oil? I'm already committed to using the 390 FE (machine shop bill to prove it) but I'm starting to run out of money here, and $300 for an oil pan will hurt. I'm not building a race engine or anything, just turning it into a driver.

I would check your local salvage yards. 1967 - 1976 Ford 4x4 pickups with a FE engine have factory rear sump oil pans, as did some cars. Or maybe check in the classifieds here for someone parting out a 4x4 truck with an FE.
