Turbo or not

both of these trucks are diesel. the 92 f250 is non turbo but the 93 f250 does have turbo. I plan on using the truck to tow a 5th wheel only. Help me decide.

I would want a turbo...but it depends on how the trucks look, mileage, etc...

If both trucks are in about the same shape and condition, go with the turbo. The 93 IDI will run with a bone stock early 7.3 powerstroke.

Yep, either one will be an IDI, but the turbo model was under rated on HP. A couple of minor tweaks that cost nothing but a little time, and it will out pull a stock early stroke. Plus the parts are way cheaper for them. LOL If you are looking for 400 horses, the IDI won't do it easily though.
To the OP, ask about the SCAs in the coolant. The 7.3 IDIs were known for cavitation if the SCAs weren't kept up.

No, the '94.5 and newer is the same, the '93-'94.5 IDI turbo was a completely different motor from the PowerStroke.
To the OP's original question, the answer is turbo if all else is equal. The factory ratings are inaccurate, and reasonable power is a non-crushed downpipe and fuel increase away. Mine's had over 16k behind it, pulls like a champ.

From my reading the 93 94 IDI T was a good bit better than a stock IDI non T. There were some changes to it that were made specifically for a T that made it more durable for T power and you should be able to run more boost without problem over a stock IDI with a after market Turbo.

The problem with the IDI Fac T was they only made it for a year and a 1/2 so parts are very limited.

I use trucks for work and transport. If you want to go fast does a truck make sense for that ?

agreed. my 494,000 mile 7.3 with banks turbo walks away from stock powerstrokes, and just about all the dodges here in my area.
