2004 f-150 4.6l running rough

My f-150 has an intermittent rough idle and consistently runs rough when you accelerate quickly. Vehicle is not throwing any codes? Ideas?

don't know how many miles since your last tune up but I would check your COP's...your coil boots could be dry rotted/baked from engine heat.

Or it could be a fuel filter.

These mod motors are generally a 100k engine between tune ups so if you have owned it since new or at least before 100k then you can figure a tune up is needed at the least.

my first guess would be one of the COPS ( coils on plug) has intermittent problem. Not enough to throw a code. You can use a different reader, or if you have a spare coil or two, change one out each day until you get the bad one.

Agreed.

I will note that a vibration in idle is normal for those trucks - a serious one or vibration on acceleration is not though
