1997 f150 4.6 to 5.4

i know this topic has been beaten to death but I've not come across anyone with my unique situation yet. My truck has a 4.6 with 204,000 miles on it and the head gaskets are messed up in it. They want $2000 to fix it, my thought is that it's not worth putting that much into it for it to still have a tired 4.6 in it. In doing a little research I found people saying the swap is relatively straight foward. But what I have not heard anyone say anything about yet is that my truck has an e4od in it, will this transmission live behind a 5.4? Is it worth swapping all this? Just need some input from the experts.

If your not going to do the head gasket repair yourself, will you be doing the engine swap yourself?

Yes i would do the swap myself. I wouldn't attempt a head repair on an interference style engine, forget that. Like i said doesn't seem cost effective to me to keep the pretty tired and leaky (rear main seal leaks quite a bit of oil) and repair it when it doesn't have the power i need to pull or tow.
