where to test oil cooler in LA?
I called a dozen places, but no one could do it. I called machine shops too, but no dice. One radiator place said they could do it, but I just went there and I could tell by the looks on their faces that they were looking at something from Roswell.
I'm tempted to cap both sides, and try to pressurize it myself.

??? Why "test" it??? Do you have mixing of goo that you suspect from it? Not knowing anything else, I'd say just reseal it and eyeball the guts when the end caps are off.
IMO the seal kit *really* should be done anyhow if you are going to bother taking the thing off.
Get the penetrating oil on the drivers exhaust manifold fasteners now if you are planning on taking it off later...
Never mind, just spotted your other thread. I'd cross the cooler off the list.

Nevermind on the oil cooler testing hunt. I gave up trying to find a place that could do it. One place offered to cut the oil cooler cylinder in half and re-weld it once they conducted their pressure test. I told them no thanks.
I ended up doing this. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...re-tester.html
My process didn't involve cutting the oil cooler.
