Surge Protection - lets hear what you have...

I have used that one and competitors. They all work fine. I regard the risk of surge as very small and see primary benefit as guard against low voltage in campgrounds.
I never had monitors. Didn't feel they added enough benefit to justify the added cost.
It used to be that I regarded this or something similar as an essential, but as campgrounds have updated, we just haven't seen power problems in a good while other than locally in one of our campgrounds, which everyone knows about. Times have really gotten a lot better, in our experience in terms of shoreline power.
My two cents worth,
Steve

I had a 30A pole-mount Progressive Industries EMS model on the first TT and have a hard-wired 50A Progressive EMS with remote display on the 5th. I called their tech support 800 number on a Sunday afternoon, had to leave a message but got a call back with my answer in about an hour. I'm a fan!

Randy, I did the hardwire progressive EMS in mine. I agree with Steve, the other features seem more vital than the surge protection itself. I read around online and decided it would be a good bet to be safe rather than sorry, and they don't cost that much for peace of mind. I have the display hidden in the bottom of a cabinet that is blocked off where the shore line and city water come in. It's easily visible when you open the cabinet door, but hidden enough that if someone sleeps on the dinette you don't have to watch it scroll all night.
As far as progressive Vs. others, I found a chart somewhere that compares them side by side (think it was linked off FRF). The Progressive has more features, lifetime warranty, is American made AND supported. Internal parts are designed to be replaceable without changing the entire unit.

Are you guys with this hardwired into your rig do you check the power post before hooking/ setting up?
I've been using this and can say there has been a few times that this has shown a bad electric post before even wasting anytime on that site.
