351 Cleveland Oil Leak

Hey everybody. Need help finding a part for my truck. I have a 351 Cleveland motor, and it is leaking oil out of (from what I've read) the oil pressure sending unit. It's on the top back of the block, right behind the intake.

It is leaking from the top of the unit, right where that little nut is on there. I've tried to take it out and then tighten it back in, but it just spins once it gets in and never tightens. Here it is after its cleaned up a little, soon as I turn the truck on it starts to leak out.

I can't find the part for it online anywhere though. None that look like this one anyway. Summit has some, but they don't look like this, and this is my only vehicle so I'd hate to just put the wrong part on there. Hope someone can help. Thanks.

1. Are you sure it's a Cleveland and not a 351M? They look very similar, but the Cleveland never came in these trucks. The 351M and 400 did though.
2. That doesn't look like an OEM oil pressure sending unit to begin with - probably an aftermarket part that a previous owner installed. Do you have the original gauges or replacements? Ford usually used a connector that looks like this:

Either way, if oil is leaking through your sending unit, I'd suggest changing your sending unit.

Hey thanks a lot. Yes this truck came stock with a 400 in it, but the PO put a 351 Cleveland in it. Had a different thread trying to figure out if it was a 351m or cleveland, gentleman showed me it was a Cleveland.

Aftermarket gauges:

I think I can just replace it with one of these:

or

They don't look the same as what I have, but maybe it'd work...

OK cool! Just wanted to be sure.

Are those AutoMeter gauges? It's probably their sending unit. Those Summit links are to OEM-style replacement parts.

Try these:

Truck looks great, BTW!

You're welcome. Glad I could help.

Learning as you go is half the fun of having an old rig like this!
