2005 F350 6.0 Shifter cable
Hi fellow Super Duty owners. I am a proud owner of a dreaded 6.0 diesel with an automatic transmission that has never had any major issues. I've had the FICM replaced, but other than that, no major trouble. My question today is about the shifter cable. After pulling my boat out of the water Sunday, I put the truck in park and cut her off. Once I finished securing the boat, I got in and started her up. She started pouring white smoke out of the tailpipe, and when I tried to put her in Drive, the shifter moved freely from left to right. I climbed under the truck and found that the shifter cable had fallen off of the lever on the side of the transmission. I put it back on but it doesn't snap in place. Is it possible to fix the shifter cable without totally replacing the whole thing? I added coolant and the white smoke stopped. I've always heard white smoke is a bad thing?
