easy "slow"power window fix

do your power windows go down halfway fast, only to come to a stop or almost to a stop and then take forever to go the rest of the way down?
here is a simple, fast, easy fix.
spray a healthy dose of either silicone spray, or penetrating oil down the felt tracks front and rear, and cycle the windows up/down a time or two. by the second or third cycle, they should be lightning fast both up and all the way down.

yea, but it is easy to clean what does not stay into the felt track off.
this is much easier that taking the doors apart and lubricating just the felt runners. .

You're talking about the felt runners that are where the glass slides into the door, right (the weatherstripping, I guess)?

I ask because my passenger front window on my 2006 F350 goes real slow and only about halfway, so I may give it a try.

yup. the felt runners the window slides in front and rear of the door. i use PB blaster this time, because i ran out of silicone spray. it actually worked better than the silicone, but i don't know how long the PB will last.
i usually do it every 6 months or so, unless i forget and then do it when the windows start to slow down again.

I clean out the old and add new grease to the wheel runners and track and use silicon spray to soak the glass trim inside the door once a year and my windows are lighting fast

Just used silicone spray right before winter. Big speed difference.

DONT spray the top felt like I did on my first window. LOL
Just front and back rails. Use straw for accuracy

maybe. the ones in my 88 are just starting to fall apart. so i can not say if it was the oil, or the fact they are 27 years old.
