Any van guys here? Roll Call

Recently was reading a thread making mention that there might only be 2 or 3 van guys left here so I am curious how many of us are here?

We are here. We are the crotchety jaded IDI owners that get to read stories by giddy truck owners finding cheap turbo kits for $400 or reading about how hard it was to remove X part from their truck.

Even changing an air filter on a van is an ordeal. After three years with this van, I still don't have a clean way to remove the doghouse.

But I digress, here are some of the FTE IDI forums superstar van guys:

Gettysburg
IDIJohn
Joshofalltrades
Jayro

I'm forgetting others...

I had a chance at a $500 motor and turbo. But it was a truck motor...darn it!

I did find an overdrive but didn't mount it yet. That's for this summer.

I pulled a 13,500 GVW trailer loaded, with no problems, I wish it had a turbo, it just takes longer to climb the steep hills. an LS rear end is first on the list as it is easy to get stuck in the pasture when it rains...

Yep, There are a few of us.

When you say "cleanly remove the doghouse" what do you mean? After the first time I always pull the passanger seat out first. 4 bolts. Takes about 3 minutes if I use my air racket.

Yup, bought an 88 in February of last year, and have been slowly undoing the CF work the previous owner did. Next is to rebuild the original axle and swap the 10.25 back out of it.

This guy. Trying to figure out how to get a turbo in this '92 IDI with as little headache as possible.

Good luck. I am looking at reworking the doghouse so the turbo can sit on top of the transmission, but that means taking the van off the road for quite a while along with all custom pipework.

Just get a van turbo kit. It'll fit under the doghouse. I researched all these guys who did DIY custom remote turbo systems on their vans, and it's not worth all the effort.

Check out my hypermax thread: http://nickpisca.com/hypermax

Looks like your making some progress. Sits a little higher than when I saw it.

Post a good picture of your 85 E350! Looks good from the small avatar.

I have 3 IDI vans.

85 E350 extended full panel van, 6.9 C6, 4.11
87 E350 26ft Motorhome, 6.9 C6, 3.54
And my daily driver, '91 E250 XLT Club Wagon 12 passenger van, 7.3, E4OD 3.54

I also have a 1977 E100 ******* wagon, but it's a straight 6, 3 speed on the column van.
