Looks like the project is coming along. Any work on the interior yet?

NICE! I tried to convince my wife to let me buy an IDI ambulance. No dice. I love the clubwagon, but a renovated ambulance would have been the bees knees.

Current plans on my van are a turbo, E4OD, and keep the 3.55 gears. I'm going custom on the turbo though, I'm expanding the doghouse and putting the turbo on top of the trans.
Lots of custom work, but it'll be cheaper and more maintainable than the Hypermax kit.
I already have a core E4OD, unfortunately it's a 4x4 one so I'll need a 2wd core as well, or maybe a BW4407 to hang under there in the hopes of a future 4x4 swap. I've been toying with that idea, and seeing the ambulance makes me lean more in that direction.

Easier to get forgiveness than to get permission.

You could always try playing the safety angle. An ambulance is built with an internal cage designed to survive multiple roll-overs blah blah. Nothing too good for my sweetie blah blah. Hehe.
