3 point seat belts

I have been calling everywhere in the Orlando area to try and find a place to install 3 point shoulder seat belts in my 74 F100 truck. No one wants to touch it. Any suggestions? I am not the kind of guy that could do it myself.

Do you have the needed parts to do it? The belts, buckles, retractor for the side of the cab, etc? I know of several shops around me that I could walk into and explain my situation. Especially with some cash in hand. You just need to find one of those type shops. Usually charctierized by gravel driveway, or dog asleep in the foyer.

Be that kind of guy.

Why? Because retail places will not touch it for fear of liability. If you get in a wreck and are injured, your attorney will look at who installed it and sue their butts. It doesn't matter if it contributed to injury or not... they'll go broke just defending themselves from ambulance-chasing lawyers.

And if you can't be that guy, start looking in the local chapter section on this forum and see when there a meet-n-greet. Attend, make friends and you'll get those belts in.

I installed aftermarket 3-point seat belts in the front and rear of my crew cab.

I got them from Wesco Performance.

Passenger Car Replacement Seat Belts

They worked well in the rear. The front works well too but I'll need to see if i can fabricate a cover for the pillar or procure original covers and see if I can modify them.

I'd look for a shop that build race cars, not a general repair shop. Race shops will have lots of experience installing safety equipment correctly, & won't be afraid to do the job.

This site seems to have a pretty good guide for retro-fitting 3-point seat belts:

Replacement Seat Belt Installation Instructions - 3 Point Retractable
3 Point Seat Belts Installation of Shoulder Anchor Point Where Door Post Goes to Roof

I haven't tried it myself, but I'm thinking about it...

Talking about the 3 point seat belts for the front, has anyone had any luck in repairing them themselves? The driver's side one in my F250 won't pay out from the bottom reel or reel back in the whole way.

I've just taken it apart and tried to see what the problem is but the only thing I can see is that the little plastic clutch pad thing isn't turning fully in it's slot when the belt reels in, so it doesn't push the bar down to let it pay out.

Anything else I can try doing or is it a case of replacing it now?
