Oil rail question

I've got a buddy that has a # 7 injector leaking and he's also replacing the stand pipes and dummy plugs. Are there any other seals or o rings that need to be replaced in the oil rails while he's in there?

I've heard some people say if the nipple cups have excessive play in them to replace them as well. Though I've talked to my dealership about them and they've told me with all the work they've done on these engines, they never had to replace them.

I was thinking that there wasn't really anything else in the rails that needs to be replaced but I wanted to check here first before I told him that since I'm by no means an expert.

Also check all the top injector o-rings when you pull the oil rail out, to see if there is any other injectors that have damaged o-rings. I know there are kits you can get to replace just the o-rings on injectors with out having to replace the whole unit.

Fwiw, diesel tech Ron says leave the nipple cups alone.

If the top injector o-ring is leaking it is likely a result of the nipple cup o-ring being bad or the cup itself I suppose... The dealer will tell you to replace the entire oil rail, but you can replace the cups and o-rings much cheaper...

Look for a youtube video by Creator. He walks through the process.
