Blew a front tire at 73 mph - front ABS connector question

Had a fun ride on the interstate while coming home from work today. LF tire EXPLODED and off to the center median I went. I've NEVER experienced a blow out quite like this before. Thankfully nobody or no thing got in my way. (I managed to save some trees lives by stopping 10' from them)

Anyway, the female 2 wire ABS connector (harness end, not wheel end) is on the interstate somewhere, and I am picking up a new pigtail tomorrow. Does anyone know what wire goes where, or does it matter? If I remember right, one of them is orange.

I also shredded the plastic inner fender well....it's amazing the damage a tread "tail" will do at highway speeds.

Glad you are OK Money!! That very thing happened to me when I was a teenager... Back when I had to buy used tires... lol. With arm strong steering it pulled me right in to the deep median... Ruined a good pair of shorts!!

Glad you're ok! (And the trees- lol). Your 05 should be the same as my 06 on wire color, I'll be happy to take any pics that might help tomorrow and post them. Do the wires have shielding on them?

Thanks guys. Yes it could have been ugly had someone/something got in my way. They are widening the interstate where this happened, and a couple weeks ago, they removed the cable guardrail system that f#%@!ng engineers like to install within 20' from the edge of the road.....instead of the median center where you have time/distance to try and avoid it. If that thing was still there, I would have ricocheted off it and probably slingshot back into traffic.

Thanks that would help alot. Yea, I think it did have shielding on it, and I think one wire is orange. I'll look again in the morning.

On a 2005 Excursion, the tan with orange stripe coloured wire will be your ABS signal + circuit, while the other wire will be a tan with black stripe wire, which is your signal - for the left front wheel speed sensor.
