Fuel Filter Leak - Wrong Gasket?

I am having a recurring problem with my fuel filter on my '02 7.3. Years ago I made the mistake of throwing away my OE fuel filter housing and its classic "beveled" gasket. The only fuel filters I can find are the ones that have a new, rounded gasket. This gasket loves to leak and be finnicky. It seems like even after it seals it will eventually start spraying the engine bay with diesel.

Well, today I changed the fuel filter for a new one (because it had been so many miles and the old fuel filter had begun leaking again). It sealed just fine initially, but right now the truck is pissing fuel all over the place and I canceled a fishing trip as a result of that. There has to be a better gasket out there that just WORKS.

What am I missing here guys?

Are you using motor craft filters? They always came with the keystone gasket back in the day.

That is reason enough to fix it...canceling a fishing trip is bad for your health and mental stability...

Good luck on getting her going, without the fuel spray!

I have an old gasket with the bevel that has dried out. I am going to try that. I will let you know if it works. If it does not then I am going to get one from RiffRaff Diesel. I have bought from them before and the experience was always pleasant.

Using the old gasket after drying it out seemed to work, but is still not sealing completely. I am going to get another filter from Riff Raff.
