Good morning Maine and visitors! Have a great day all, it's HUMP DAY!

Got 1/2 rooms done as far as sheetrocking goes. Need to mud/prime/paint still, then we're doing that snap-together synthetic wood flooring. We're getting there.

Made some progress on the engine as well, got the oil pan off and inspected the rods, looks VERY clean, great shape. Just getting the engine on the actual stand was a hell of a chore. Got 3 studs out of the manifolds on one side, 3 more stripped. Gonna try a gator socket then I'll probably have to just cut them. I'm sure it's going to be a PIA. I need to get the block cleaned up so I can start painting it. I still need to bedline the oil pan and ceramic coat the IC tubes, bellowed up-pipes, and manifolds. Luckily I have a 3-day weekend coming up, so I should be able to make a lot of progress, finally.

Good luck, hope everything goes well! And do the damn physical therapy!

It's weird...a few weeks ago we had so much snow I thought it's never melt, and flood if it did.

Now we're so dry we NEED rain bad....what a flip-flop.

Ever seen an original 7.3L oil pan from the north-east?

The sheetmetal used to make the oil pan is thin/stamped. A couple chips or imperfections in the paint, and BOOM, rust. Mine has 1-2 more years and then it will rot through the rest of the way, I chipped about 1-1.5/16th of an inch of rust off it yesterday, about the size of a Dorito. You can't get to it to clean it up under the crossmember and only way to change it is remove the engine. So I figure a new one with a bedliner should prove very tough. I'm planning to have the dip-stick nut welded on, too.

Only issue might be heat insulation, with the bedliner on it. I don't know if that would be a problem in the summer or not. I'm taking it you have a big honkin' engine stand. The shop that did mine built their own, since there wasn't anything big enough when they opened.

I bought a 2-ton cherry picker (1,000lbs on the furthest setting) and a 1-ton stand. I have all the fluids and all the excess parts off the block now, so she should be ok. It's cheap HF ***** crap tho...but I only need it to work once...hopefully. As far as heat, I already run a 205* TS and heat has never really been an issue, luckily I live up north where it's only hot a few months of the year, and only REALLY hot for a few days.

Yeah, I don't even know if that's an issue with a pan, just a thought. Careful of that HF stuff, have to be picky on what stuff of theirs you buy. Just for chit's and giggles, I bought an air cut off tool from them, for a whole 7.99. Lasted 10 minutes, I think...LOL

Yessir! They have a gantry that I've been thinking of getting, to lift my cab up, and other stuff. Be nice to be able to lift that whenever I needed to, and not have to get a couple of guys to help.

Good morning Maine and visitors!

Long, early day for me, working 0700-2110 today. But, I have the next 3 off, and it looks to be a nice cool (relative to the 80's today) weekend! Great weekend for getting chit done!

Have a good Thirsty Thursday all!

Good morning Tom and the Maine crew, from wet, soggy Nebraska. 3 inches of rain at the house last night!
