How many miles do you have on the oil? And, what is in the oil that makes it "break-in"?

it has only been about a hour total. and the break in is lucas additive think its high in zinc says to change after 1k, the thing im worried about is the moly engine lube I used I don't know if it will clog any holes? also the pressure keeps going up an down I will buy another sender because I think I may have twisted the top part wile installing. the exhaust stinks badly I finally got it to idle without choke but it still chokes out when I stomp on it. I put my propane torch up to manifold and there was no difference.

I wouldn't change the oil until 1000 miles. The moly is small and won't plug anything.

On the oil pressure, do you have a real pressure gauge or the factory gauge? I don't know about the '77 gauges, but those in the 80's are really poor. So most run aftermarket gauges.

I don't know about the 77 gauges, but the 80's are notorious. You can pull the factory sender, screw in a tee, and then screw in both the factor sender and the line to the aftermarket gauge.

Low pressure can be too much clearance on the bearings. But, going up and down would typically indicate it is starving for oil. Are you sure you have the right pickup so that it sits just barely off the bottom of the pan?

Did not solve the oil problem. Finally got timing set and it starts right up but still chokes when stomped on. When I install hot wire from battery to coil it doesn't choke! I'm getting 12 v at battery and 8 at coil is this normal? For the oil I will install a mechanical pump this weekend.

Bummer on the oil pressure. Not sure what is going on when you stomp it, but it sounds more like fuel than ignition. Speaking of the coil, 7-8v is right in Run.

The DS-II system is quite capable of 500 HP, so I don't see an advantage in going to HEI.
