Kinda off topic for us but lots of knowledgeable folks here:
If gas is put in diesel but not at a high enough concentration to ignite, will it still smell like gas or does the "new" diesel smell like gas? Never really put my nose to it enough to know, but I thought diesel still smells like diesel??
I just put half a gallon of diesel in my lawn mower the other day because it smelt like gas.
So this is a pretty good topic.
That's strange because we've had this come up before (with red fuel). We have a machine here at work that refuses to start and, of course, the last thing checked was the fuel, but the machine only has 50 hours on the clock. Even my newbie parts guy thought it was gasoline and not diesel.
Will it ignite at all with a match? A real strong diesel concentration is hard to get to light with just one match. More gas and it will light right off.

I used a butane lighter and no, it wouldn't light at all.
Probably too much oil to gas ratio and is why the engine will not light off/start.
I assume we are talking about a gas engine with diesel or is it a diesel engine with gas in the diesel?

diesel engine with gas (maybe) in the diesel. Cranks and cranks, no smoke then starts labor knocking and smoking like a freight train but will not start.
