ECU Program Codes & MAF E4OD Years Qs

Its my understanding E4OD transmissions from 93-94 have the relay diode protection in the solenoid pack and in 95 Ford moved relay protection diodes from the Solenoid Pack to the PCM.

I had been under the impression that one of the differences between 94 to 95 E4ODs was pulse width modulation in the TCC, but understand that's not applicable here.

94-95 5.0 F series & Broncos with Vin N could have Mass Air & Auto.

The program codes listed on the former ford FI dot com shows program codes for those Mass Air/E4OD models show as:

HOG0
U4X0
VEX1
WAY1

And then there are the 5.8 E & F series + Bronco : BIO0 (No years listed)

As well as the unobtanium "ACKO" MAF ECU for 93-95 Lightning.

Who knows where the crossover year for ECUs & diode location is?

Are there any clearly ID'ed program codes that run solenoid/diode packs vs those that have it resident on the ECU?

1995 was the transition to PCM based transmission solenoid protection diodes.

We were at Pullapart yesterday & ran up on a near unicorn. 94 5.0 150 extra cab 4x4 with tranny code "E". Somebody had pulled the mass air sensor apart & the tube was on the ground. Computer was still in its home. Wooo-hooo

Pulled it out & it has a reman sticker with no Co. name.

Opened it up & it is decidedly different internally than my 94's.

Engraved across the main connector is "F4TF-AAB" which would match almost the H0G0 number with the basic part number deleted, followed by SMD 221.

There is a sticker on the Eprom that has a matching # on the factory label, EM8353

Wish I had gotten a pic of the data sticker & the calibration sticker may try later this week in order to do some searching.

I've been looking into these MAF computers as well and there is one thing I've never found a definite answer on. Are all or any of the above referenced catch codes also SEFI as well as MAF? SEFI = Sequential EFI....like a Mustang 5.0 MAF computer is.

All of the earlier truck computers that are speed density program that I'm aware of are batch/bank fire, meaning it fires each side/bank at once.

So when Ford came up with the Mass Air EEC's for OBD1 trucks....did they go the whole way and also make them Sequential firing?

Speed density in our generation trucks are bank/batch fire and mass air in the same generation is sequential.

You can look at a wiring diagram in just about any manual & see the difference. There is always individual wiring to injectors in the presence of a Mass air meter in a V8 & half the common number of wires in speed density with no sensor.
