2100 or 2150?
I wanted to rebuild my carb so I ordered a kit for what I thought was my 2100 from mikes carb parts. Motorcraft 2100 Carburetor Repair Kit. Now after taking off the carb I'm thinking it may be a 2150. Called Mike and he suggested this kit for the 2150 Motorcraft 2150 Carburetor Rebuild Kit | 2 Barrel Ford Mercury. Is anyone able to confirm from these pics?

The List # is what to go by. That is, if one doesn't know by sight for sure. I think it is? Embossed on the carb horn, along with a date code. That said the kits usually cover a range of carbs, too.
Just plug the list # into a search and should pull up more than you need to know, manuals, .pdf YT videos etc. When the time comes to actually tear into it (and back together) there won't be any surprises.

That will work, yes. Buy a good one - Motorcraft. All parts are not created equal, saving a couple bucks is sometimes false economy. Also have you looked inside yet - if the float is sogged or leaky you'll want a new one. Rebuild kits don't include a float nor jets. I'd also want to know what jets are installed in any carb. Used carbs will often have been re-jetted and not usually for the better. It's best to have everything gathered ahead of time so no show stoppers.

Take a good look at the throttle shaft. If it is a high mileage carb that has seen lots of use, excessive wear will mean bad vacuum leaks, it will never tune right. Make sure it's suitable for rebuilding to begin with. They are one of the best carbs ever made though at least in terms of simplicity and reliability and ease of maintenance. Is it original to your truck, make sure the Venturi size is suitable for your application oftentimes people will install anything that will physically fit.

The carb is worth the rebuild. My pickup ran great before I took it off. The only reason I'm doing the rebuild is because it's leaking some fuel I think from the power valve. It might not even need to be rebuilt if I just replaced that part/gasket. Not sure if it's the original carb or not, but the truck only has 37k original miles on it so it might be.
