Running really bad
I recently had oil and plugs changed. Mechanic ran an in line injector cleaner through the fuel rail. Got my truck back and it is running awful. Mechanic indicated that I need a new engine. 110000 miles on a 2007 F150, 5.4l. Said Oil Sludge was the reason. Oil was changed pretty regular. Although, not every 3,000 miles, I would go over some, but not that much that sludge would build up. At least that is my opinion.
My Catyletic converters were changed at about 95,000 miles. Installed Wagners.
When driven no power, lots of sputter seems to be starved of fuel. Idle is not terrible though.
Long story short, multiple misfires, changed coil packs, removed plugs for inspection to find cylinder 4 and 8 plugs could be removed by hand. Plugs look ok, anti seize, dialetric grease and reassembled. Cleaned all electronic connections and checked all vacuum. Everything checked out and was correct.
No misfire, still running awful. From multiple error codes down to one, P0174. Fuel pump was whistling and chirping, replaced it. Cleaned tank and new filter. Tank did have some curious looking crud in it.
Multiple freeze frame data indicates fuel pressure ok, O2 sensors operating normally, MAF Ok, no apparent vacuum leaks and still running bad. I want to pull and clean injectors, noticed lots of gunk in the injector pressure regulator, cleaned and reinstalled.
It seems like a fuel issue to me, like not enough fuel being delivered. P0174 lean in bank 2. Computer is adding approx +27% more fuel to B2 and still lean. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I love my truck and have been forced to use my daughters Civic. Bump my head every time I get into it. I can't afford any more head injuries.

Got a new scan tool and was able to graph O2 sensors. The O2 sensors in B2 are dropping below .1v which I believe is the minimum threshold. Never exceeded .9v's though. Also, the graphing is all over the place and is not clock work like precision. Am going to test resistance in injectors next and will update. I had cleared the CEL when I went to use the new scanner and now it won't come back on. Still the truck is running awful sounds like a diesel with no power. Am ready to just replace the injectors and see if it helps. I can't believe that it is running this way and not throwing out any CEL codes. I will try anything at this point. Any suggestions are welcomed.

try SEAFOAM
Try some Seafoam in gas and oil as directed on can. It's an easy cheap fix if it works. I've used it on all my combustion engines. Really good stuff. Can work wonders. Also make sure your engine is getting plenty of air to breathe. It can make a difference. Good luck. Huckster
