Howdy George!

Ours lasted 15 years. Got the new one ready to go in when the old one craps out altogether.

The Kenmore (Whirlpool) that I had before the last one, lasted about 3 years. The counter model that I had before that looked like the grille from a 1958 Buick Electra, lasted till we got tired of looking at it, and gave it away. It had over 15 years on it, boy, wish I still had it...., It was built like a 1958 Buick too!!!

Reminds me of a story that an old local farmer told on himself. During WWII, he had a truck and a car. Seems that with rationing and vehicles being hard to get, someone offered him a really good price for his old car. Sounded good, so he took the money, and used the truck. Someone else needed a truck, and offered him much more than it was worth, and he sold it too..
Then the lights went on..... he only had a horse and wagon left!
He explained that the reason that he had done these things was that....... (pointing to his head) he said......."Nobody home upstairs"..............
.........................TRUE STORY.... relative of mine!

Probably couldn't buy another vehicle until after the war?

I'm sure Rick! My dad got out of the Navy after WWII and bought a worn out 1936 Chevy. My Dad and GrandDad rebuilt the engine in the cellar of a house in Philadelphia. My brother and I were talking about it, and were amazed to realize that they carried that six cylinder engine up and down steep narrow interior stairs to get it into and out of the cellar! Tougher than me, they were!!!! He told me that cars just were not available, and the ones that were running were often just worn out...... hence, the clapped-out 36 Chevy....oh....and over-priced as well!!!

Yeah, I agree, not much power, but long stroked, cast and heavy!
I'd better let you sign off so that you can hit the sack Rick, I'm retired, but I realize that most folks still need to sleep so that they can stay awake at work!!

What is spare time? I don't like or have time to watch TV.

I do know what that 58 Buick Electra looked like on the showroom floor.
