Not really true. I had a 300C in 2005 with the Hemi and a 5 speed. I turned in many a true 25 MPG tank, many back-to-back running the interstate at every bit of the speed limit and then some. And back then to get a true 25, as measured via keeping track of every drop of fuel that went in, was very good.

Getting back to the poor fuel economy, my first thoughts were poor fuel quality, engine needs to be broken in more or too much ethanol in the fuel. I know around Minnesota they made it mandatory that all gasoline (with the exception of Non-oxygenated) has to have a minimum of 10% Ethanol. Which from some articles I have read boosts a bit more power but is not very fuel efficient. My dad taught me never go to a gas station where the tanker truck is there filling up the storage tanks. He has had bad luck in the past were sediment makes its way to the top of the fuel and mixes around creating some problems with engines. Happened to my grandpa as well.
I wouldn't go by the vehicle computer anyway for mileage. It might be accurate but nothing beats hand calculating anyway.

I don't know of any of the 145" wheel base Platinums in the 2009-2014 vintage that were achieving the EPA estimate 21 Hwy. Your truck is the heaviest of the normal F-150's. It's also important to remember that when the Monroney sticker is printed, it's not geared toward any particular truck. These stickers are generic and printed to capture all 4x4 F-150 MPG estimates except for the Raptor.
Common sense tells us that a RC F-150 4x4 with the ecoboost and 3.31 axles should achieve the 23 MPG's advertised whereas the very heavy Platinum series very possibly may not.
Not trying to make excuses for your situation and I certainly believe that as the engine wears in the MPG's will improve, mine did.

Update - as disapointed as I have been I am noticing a difference since my last visit to the dealership where they say they did noting but run test and I'm getting 18 mpg combined from my morning running around. So from 12-13 to now 18 and they did nothing. Well I'm sure happy they did that nothing to it to get this change. My driving style is pretty much the same although I do pay more attention now to not let those turbos ingauge. Is it fixed??? Maybe only more driving and time will tell. One thing that's for certain is if you drive like you're scared of the gas pedal and turbos and you will see better mpg's.
Fixed??? Maybe?

Mine have a max 51psi for max load. But I don't normally carry close to that. My door sticker calls for 35 all around and I'm running 36 from the factory. I'll most likely bump them up to 38psi. But I'll never go up to 51.

Yeah I'm not to happy running that much air pressure, I know when I got the truck it had 42. You feel every small bump in the road with how they are now.

What does the door sticker call for?

Hopefully they get your truck figured out but I doubt it will get close to what you are hoping for. Hand calculate your mileage and I bet it's even worse than you think.
I have friends with the 3.5EB and not one of them comes close to the rated mileage on the window sticker. 14-19 is what they are rated for. Like mentioned earlier the higher mileage rating of 19 is achieved in a test that averages 48 mph.
At 75 mph plus the truck gets closer to 16mpg on the freeway. Ford used the regular cab truck with best gearing possible to make the mileage they post on the sticker. Some claim they get 20+ mpgs at 70+ mph.
The EB has plenty of torque and is super fun to drive but any hill and it's in boost. If it's in boost your mileage will really suffer. Wait until you tow if you think the mileage is bad now.
