Rear leaf springs on 89 E-150
HELP!
I can't get the shackle to frame bolt off!! All the nuts are off (spring to frame, spring to shackle, and shackle to frame), and the spring to frame bolt is off, but I can't remove the spring to shackle bolt (top rear bolt) because of the way Ford installed it. =(
Any suggestions? The shackle to frame bolt seems to be lodged witth the bushing, and I even used a 230 lb-ft torque wrench - it didn't even budge. But it turned when I used a box ended wrench... it's a 7/8" grade-8 bolt. The nut came off pretty easy, but the bolt is a PITA - the only thing stopping me from finishing the job. So far, the leaf spring is still on, after about 6 hours of labor.

I had the same problem on my 4x4. The bolts were rusted to the steel bushings inside the springs. I used an air die grinder with a cut-off wheel and sliped in between the spring and the mount. Had to cut the end of the bolt off on both sided of the spring. I tried my oxy-acetylene torch first - not a good idea. Ended up cutting the mount on one side. Also to close to the rear fuel tank for comfort.
