Official Hello from me!!!

Hello everyone!!!

Spent the past few weeks cleaning this thing to within an inch of its life! Steam cleaned carpets, Q-tips in the vents...even pulling door seals to clean under...yeah, THAT clean!

Anyways...besides replacing the head unit and speakers, most of the interior right now has just been left alone.

Installed the Vent Shades and Bugflector II. Tore the rear hatch apart to replace door lock actuator. I figured while I was there I would remove the latch/trim piece with the clear corroding away. It got a good sand, prime and paint. Finished up with clay bar, rubbing compound, polishing compound the ICE paste wax.

Passed our state inspection no problem...and that is saying something for PA!

I upsized the tires to 285s, thanks to the wonderful info from this site. We had new Cooper Discoverer A/T 3 tires put on the wife's Tahoe before winter and we had a doozy! I was a Bridgestone Dueller A/T REVO guy...these tires beat them hands down!

Also got new tow mirrors and wired them to add the marker lights. Ex was prewired for the turns and power adjust. No power for fold or telescope.

I just LOVE this vehicle...but I also love feeling there is a REAL truck under that station wagon...I mean leaf spring front??? Don't get tougher than that! Here are some pics!

Looks super sharp bud, nice work

May I suggest taking the grill off, popping out the inserts, and spraying them black? Would really tie the front end into the rest of the truck. Cleaning them prior to spraying is a bit of a PITA, but the end results are well worth it.

Read this a few times, just guessing that it's a '02 7.3 (tachometer was the clue) maybe an '03.

Looks nice, Matt's right about your grill.

Welcome to FTE.

Welcome Mike (and Amy) to the forum and EX family!
Where in PA are you? We may be neighbors! You can put your location in your user CP so it shows at the top right of each post, comes in handy pretty often when looking for help or parts.

Yeah...sorry about the RAM floor mats. Still looking for Ford mats that are just as heavy without breaking the bank...they are, after all, just mats! Seen the dirty screen top in the one pic...on it!

No more painting for a while for me...just did my rear A-arms on my SXS and my wife's dash trim and vents...yellow, red and burgundy over-spray everywhere in the garage...but worth it! Definitely thinking about the blackened grille.

Thank you for all the warm welcomes!

Welcome!

Keep the mats, when the Dodge lovers give you a hard time just tell them that Fiat (yes, remind them that their trucks are made by the little red puddlejumpers) makes a great product to keep your hardworking Ford clean.

Cheers

Really really nice job! One suggestion wire brush the rust on the frame beam and then spray it with rust converter--couple different brands. Then you can paint it and it will hold pretty well..we've all had to do it. I wouldn't have notice except your lighting showed it up well.

Now, with my OCD out of the way, it really is a nice job.

He could just spray paint the rams black. It's ok to step on them and wipe the bottom of your shoe on them

Its a weird rust. Southern truck. Almost like a powdery coating...we are used to the nasty salt rust in PA. Not really that noticeable but yeah, that camera flash REALLY made it look terrible.
