what power adders have used on your gas truck and with what results

There does not seem to be much discussion on power adders so I will try to start something. I haven't done a blower on this f150 I built yet. I will need to put a set of forged .040 over pistons in it and if I do that I had might as well stroke it at the same time and add a set of heads cam ... got me thinking about what other people have done to there gas trucks

State your truck/motor specs, and your goal. It's ideal to have a fairly specific goal, and it helps us help you.

My end goal is a vortech s trim with 349 cu in stroker with these tfs tw 170 heads similar to what I am building the wife for her stang. I think 440 hp at the 6000 rpm mark is doable. With t he added cubes and overdrive the blower to move boost earlier should make good tq. Numbers

But started this thread to get an idea or chronology of setups that work and some that dont for all to read.

Keep the boost down to under 8 lbs or so and you won't need those forged pistons.

Most factory supercharged vehicles didn't use 'em. Even the aftermarket outfits that sell Roots-style blowers like BDS, Supercharger Shop, Dyers, and others say the same thing.

I DID use forged pistons in my last hot rod build, a blown early Hemi, but it was more of a matter of piston availability than anything else. By the time I got a cast piston built to my specs the forged ones (Venolia) were only a few bucks more.

My goal is about 14-16 psi. It won't be hard to achieve with a pulley change.

My stock longblock combo made 400hp to the wheels; Vortech SQ, intercooler, 1 3/4" LT headers, 3" mandrel bent exhaust, 42lb injectors with fuel system upgrades. It made a little over 12psi and and I used SCT software to dial it in.

If you're shooting for 14-16 lbs. you had better have an intercooler on that combo and be prepared to run some good race gas or alky… all that boost creates heat.

If you want to go that high in boost, you would benefit from an aftermarket block. And cool your ACT as much as possible, cold air intake will do, I just don't like how much space they take up. Water/meth is an alternative to make some gains

Don't build a blown stroker out of a production 302 block. A 351 would be fine but it is silly to put money into a 302 block with a blower.

My blown 8.2 deck stroker mustang. It gets the job done. I like the 351 but I have all of the 302 parts and lots of stock blocks. I thought about a 351 but at the end of the day this will be a truck for the wife to tool around in. I have my psd

450tq at the rear wheels with that combo on an otherwise stock 5.8 GEN 1 L longblock

Since then, I've put on a better set of heads, roller cam, 62lb injectors and a pulley change. It should make at least 500hp/600tq, or better, at the wheels.

Any idea what your injector duty cycle is at?
