Need opinions on Superchips 1715 and Hypertech 41024 for F150 4.6L
Hello everyone,
I checked all of the post to make sure this question has not been previously asked. I am seeking unbiased opinions about pros or cons, likes or dislikes, advantages or disadvantages in regards to Superchips 1715 and Hypertech 41024 tuners. I looking at buying one of these for use on my 2002 F150 4.6L and I would like comments from experienced users.
Thank you in advance!
Kevin

This thread is about computer tuning and no one has an opinion or preference of Superchip or Hypertech? Does this mean Hypertech is prefered? I just want some good advice before I lay down the bucks...
Thanks!
Kevin
Thanks!
Kevin

Its because its been asked dozens of times in this forum and there's a note at the top to read through the section first.
The only pro the Hypertech has is that it has an 87 octane setting (which only adjusts shift points and tire size changes but does nothing for horsepower).
The Hypertech costs more, gives less performance and has no OBD-II diagnostics capability. The Superchips costs lists, gives more performance and has an OBD-II diagnostic code reader built in, but does not support 87 octane.
We've sold the Hypertech for a while and the Superchips also. We outsell Superchips to Hypertech 200 to 1. Less returns in 500 Superchips to the last 3 Hypertechs sold.

I read the note at the top and I then read through the entire section. I have not found one comparison between the Superchip and Hypertech tuners. I truely appreciate your advice however I would also like some input from end users.
Thanks!

Probably the reason you're not getting responses is people typically buy one product or another, not both.
If you use the search function of the site, you'll pull 4 pages (about 100 threads) of results in containing Hypertech related questions in the computer tuning section.

Never mind, I found my own answer. I'll go with a Diablo Sport chip custom programmed specifically for towing. I'll contact PDQ Marketing tomorrow...
Thanks everyone for all the help!

What you need is a stock performance program plus, if you think its worth the extra dough, a custom performance program with the transmission shift pattern optimized for towing (can't get you any more horsepower with a stock vehicle then you'll already get with the stock performance program on the chip).
PDQ is Diablo's warehouse (we and all other Diablo chip programmers buy blank chips through them except for small handful through Blue-dot). They're going to charge full retail: $270 + $120 for towing or refer you to one of their dealers (they send people our way all the time).
If you want to save about 30%-40% and support the operation of this web site in the process, consider here:

the reason it can only be used on one vehicle, is because the programmer backs up the stock parameters. I'm guessing there's only enough memory in the programmers to hold the data from 1 vehicle.
That way, if you ever need to go back to stock, just plug the programmer in and reset the parameters.

Question for Ken Please,
I am just learning about all this, so
There are programmers and there are chips.
Should I get a Chip custom programmed for my truck and put it in
Or
Should get a programmer and program my current chip.
Which is better?
I am planning to call MotorHaven on Monday to order this?
I would appreciate the advice.
