It's great that you have a VFD museum so close. I hope that the pump works and you are so excited pumping water that you keep the truck as a fire engine. There is a SPAAMFAA chapter in Chicago. If you decide to swap bodies, please advertise the body, pump, PTO, etc. on the SPAAMFAA website so someone else can make use of it. Have fun with it. Is there any indication of the fire truck manufacturer?
Man that is a hard decision. Firetrucks are cool in their own right but not very practical except for parade duty. A flat bed looks good and is useful for many jobs. Either way the truck will be preserved for the future.
