2011 f150 6 spd elc trn hard shift 1st-2nd

Any one have any solutions for the tranny/rear end hard shift from 1st to 2nd at low speeds on a 2011 f150xlt / off RD package with the 3.73 rear end/ elec lock
Had FORD do an update earlier and seems to be worse !!!!!. I will get a bang out of rear end when going over a speed bump and tranny shifts to 2nd. I am bringing back for warranty service and would like a some information to be educated before going. Any help , would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forum, f150 silver bullet. How many miles are on your truck currently? I'd like to investigate some ways to help smooth out your ride.

Hi Crystal , my 2001 f150 eco boost xlt, off rd. pge has 56,000 on it, this has been going on for many miles now , did an update to tranny or rear end back in Oct and seems to be getting worse, also mpg seems to be slipping considerably.

for MY2011 ford added a 1-way clutch to help with the 1-2 shift as there were complaints about the 1-2 shift in the 2010 and older 6r80's

wondering if, by chance, you might happen to have an early 2011 which might have a transmission that did not get the 1-way clutch.

if that were the case, an update for the 2011 would not likely work very well. they did have an update for the 2009 and 2010's that was supposed to help the shift feel in those trucks.

Just a thought. check your build date and ask your dealer if it is something they can check into.

One way clutch? you would have to take the transmission out to replace it. and I don't see how that can help the MPG.....

the 1 way clutch added for MY2011 has nothing to do with mileage, it has to to with shift feel -- which is what the OP was complaining about in the original post.

what i was trying to get at was it is possible (albeit unlikely) that he has an early 2011 with a transmission that is not equipped with the 1-way clutch. if he has a shift calibration for a transmission equipped with the 1-way clutch the shift feel would likely be very poor. if, by chance, he had a transmission not equipped with the updated 1-way clutch, then the update for the 2009-2010 might be help.

there were complaints about the 1-2 shift in MY2009-10, which prompted the internal change in the transmission. there are two updated shift calibrations (that i know of). one for MY2009-10 and one for MY2011.

Thanks for the reply, f150 silver bullet. I'll move this up the chain and get your regional customer service manager involved. To make that happen, PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership. Leave the rest to me.

Crystal
