360 Rear Main Seal Change in Truck

Can the rear main seal be changed while the engine is still in the truck?

After watching a youtube video I'm guessing the answer is no. Or yes if you don't mind screwing it up.

Yeah, that. Crank needs to be clear of the area and it was still a struggle trying to get it out while the block was on the stand. Mine still had the original rope seal and it was one with the groove.

Yep it can be done, but not easy. All main bearing caps have to be loosen with the crank dropping a few 1000ths to aid in removing the seal.

Most guys just pull the motor out and do it and still have to work at it your just not under your truck with oil dripping in your face now & then.
