55 COE 4 Door

Local cruise night started up again this evening. Here is an interesting COE that I happened upon...not exactly the way I would have built it but kudos for the guy who did.

Yep, interesting......and I'll leave it at that. If the owner is having fun with it, that's all that matters.

What do you think the back doors are from?

The back doors are from a 53-55 truck. I think 56 doors would look better, but they are harder to find and therefore more expensive!

At east they are not Lambo style.

Even 56 doors wouldn't look right, imho. They have that notch for the wrap around windshield that would still look out of place here. What I would suggest is to create custom doors using parts from donor doors to create a full window area. Take the back portion of the window frame from a left door and graft it to the front of the right door, and vice-versa. Not tough to do if you've got the time and talent to do what's done here, and look a thousand times better. Just my 2c.

This isn't my truck but it's the same way I plan to build my extended/crew cab on my 54. I think this looks the best of all the stretched 53-55 cabs I've seen.

I believe the consensus is that the doors on the 4 door COE (in an earlier thread) should look like these doors.

dogleg 1956 doors actually don't look bad when the cabs are merged back-to-back.
I present exhibit A:
