Split dual exhaust on an Ex?
Hi Ex gurus,
I've been searching the forum and watching videos on YouTube looking for exhaust ideas. My '05 5.4 F250 had true duals, but, I'm looking to do a single into duals on the Ex, with exits under the rear bumper. Only problem is I can't find anyone on FTE who has done this.
Summit has a decent looking Gibson system for an F250. Can anyone tell me why it would or wouldn't work? I'd love to buy the kit and install myself and save some money rather than pay a shop...
Thanks,
Brian

Yes, it's a V10, and has Gibson stainless steel headers. Will be ordering a Y pipe shortly.
I found those two also, but, there's nor much info on the systems themselves.
That Gibson system would be great, could install it in my driveway with band clamps. No idea how it sounds, can only assume it'd be similar to other Gibson systems, like the side swept duals. Thought about using a Flowtech Afterburner instead of the Gibson muffler. I've used them before, on my Maverick and Contour SVT and loved how they sound.

I know it`s personal preference, but the look of duals on a single exhaust truck looks ridiculous! and coming out from under the bumper is even more redneck (no offense to any rednecks here! ). and duals will not offer anymore power over the factory single exhaust.
I`de stick with the single exhaust out the side.

There are so many options on exhaust systems one would almost have to take there best bet. That's about what I did with my Mustang's exhaust. I think I got lucky, given how uninformed I was at the time.

Why yes I did and loved the exhaust system.... I did banks headers to banks y pipe to cat to 70 series to 3inch dual pipes out each side behind the wheels... I couldn't find too many pics but here you see the drivers side.

I suppose I could put an O2 sensor in an X-pipe before the cats, and that would solve that problem. But, the cost is another issue altogether. Not that I'm trying to do this on the cheap, rather, I'm trying to keep the expenses to a rational level.

DU,
No sound clips yet. The exhaust has the stock Y-pipe, into the cat, into an unknown Flowmaster muffler, with a turndown before the rear axle. I could get a quick video an post it later. It doesn't sound bad, but, I wouldn't suggest it sounds good, either.
I did the same when I built the exhaust for my Maverick. Used Heddman headers into an X-pipe into Flowtechs, 2 1/2" exhaust all the way back. It sounded so good tried them years later on my Contour SVT, 2 1/2" from the cat back, into 2 Flowtech Afterburners - they sounded equally as good on the V6 - which was amazing to me.
