Can my truck pull a 1984 35ft Terry 5th Wheel - Thoughts

I have an extended cab 1978 F250, 2 wheel drive, long bed. I believe it has a 400 engine.

I would like to pull a 35 ft 1984 Terry 5th Wheel trailer with it.

I have had different opinions from people in my town. Everyone in this forum has
been such a big help in the past, I would like to get some input on whether or not
you think it is possible, maybe possible but not a good idea, go for it or.......

Thanks

As long as the brake system is in good shape I would think this would be no problem.

I would add tranny up to snuff as well? Give her a good service and you should be good to go. I would also say an auxiliary cooler with a fan would not be a bad idea.

Depending on the weight of the trailer and what your driving through, ie mountains. Co425 is definitely right as thats a big trailer for a F250. 6000lbs is probably your limit and then you'll notice the lack of power in hills, mountains and the overuse of your brakes in the mountains

Dads 78 f250 supercab c6 used to it's my IH tractor (7500 lbs+ trailer) with no problem!

Just be methotical when breaking and all will be good

My dad's 74 f100 390 standard 2wd would pull a 4 horse trailer full of wood with no issues. Just make sure your brakes are good.

Id hope that a travel trailer that big would have brakes (electric) too, so the truck shouldn't have to do all the stopping.

should pull it fine, i take it it is a camper?, this may not be relevent but my dad one time hauled a 20 foot boat( boat had a chevy 305 in it) with a 2003 ford ranger up hills and big curves to our house about 80 miles away, point being fords are built tough.
