Another update, I am almost sure it was the neighbor. I was setting up cameras and caught a picture of a truck that looks like the one used to steal mine in the neighbor's driveway leaving off someone who matched the description of one of the people in the truck when they used mine to burglarize someone in East San Jose, these people have been involved in drug dealing etc and are renters on section 8 but always have new vehicles...

I've heard in these forums you need to"drive it like you stole it" but this is going kinda far dontcha think? kidding of course. I hope you get your truck back soon, and a chance to go "mid-evil" on the punk(s) who stole it. And the 3 strike system only works if you get the first one to the head! LOL! If you need help we're here for ya!

Nance: Is this the same tow truck driver you mentioned in the other thread? I assume you are sharing your findings/suspicions with the PD...
If they are crapping in their own back yard (so to speak) they should be not hard to bait-n-catch -- 'cause it sure sounds like they are hard up for quick cash for that habit of theirs...
Good luck, hope the truck is ok if they do find it...

Once caught a guy (other one could run) trying to steal my girlfriend's mom's car. Me and GF's brother just returned from dove hunting.....
Didn't have any shell's but the bad guy didn't know that. But keep looking, if they used the truck in one crime might just be stupid enough to keep it until it's cooled off? But this one might be in San Diego/ TJ by now?
Does tow truck guy know your trucks been stolen?

They don't have to go hunting for and steal another vehicle. This happened to someone in a 6.0 Facebook group. His truck was stolen, whoever it was got away from the cops and parked his truck at a home depot until the heat died down. His truck was recovered by people in the facebook group looking for it. The cops came, did their thing, and he got his truck back.

This is a very good possibility....

Our friends had their 7.3 and horse trailer stolen from a trail head parking area only a few miles from where we all live. Trailer was found (by our friends just driving around looking, not PD mind you) abandoned a couple roads away, tack room door broken and all their nice saddles or anything else of value gone, but a few days later the truck was found down by where a bunch of dismantlers are. A few more things taken, expensive hitch and other easy things, but all in all, only some minor body damage and they had it back in a couple weeks and it is just fine now!
So we'll keep our fingers crossed for you Nance and hope it gets found!
Side story: we were looking at trucks some years back and came across one with a Salvage Title. Went and looked at it and it was immaculate and it had salvage due to being stolen. What was troubling is they had a whole warehouse of nice, fairly new and clean vehicles. We passed on the truck but had this theory that they were all stolen and waiting out the 30 days for the insurance to pay out owners, then these guys would "find" them and buy them from the insurance...
Nance: keep an eye on Craigslist in both cars/trucks for sale and also parts and Autotrader, etc. You are just as likely to find it as LEOs are....
