I have a 2008 f350 6.4 diesel. I was travelling with camper and trailer and all of a sudden my engine started making a loud whistling noise. Really loud when I put the fuel to it up hills, my turbo still worked and went to 3/4 boost on The gauge. I believe it is the turbo but that's all I know

 

Could your up-pipes have worn a hole in the mesh part of them? It is pretty common over time with these. These are the pipes that go from the exhaust manifold to the back of the turbo.

I have replaced the collector pipes that go to the exhaust around 20 000K ago. But who knows, I also have an exhaust brake on that truck along with the egr delete. I don't think it's the turbo because I still get boost.

 

Sounds like a boot problem!!!
