Thanks for all the help from you guy's . Turning a PS into a IDI is not to bad however I take it.

The newer motor is obviously much better if you pull heavy. I guess if you are willing to take the time a guy like R N D is zapping the IDI's out of the stone age and making them compete ?

So the 1988 - 1994 IDI NA are all pretty much the same except for the 1993 and 1994 IDI T and they only sold a limited # of them and my crank bolt pattern is a 1 and a 1/2 year wonder ? so a regular IDI rather than a T is a better bet ?

A 6.9 IDI is just a smaller bore but same engine as a 7.3 ?

So they had a 8 year run of IDI from 1986 to 1994 and PS from 1994.5 to 2003, which one is there more of out there and parts for in the long run ? I know all the electrical is being made in China now so that is a strike against the PS.

I think I am Back where I started from, the truck I bought I believe the injector pump is going out. Is there anyway to test these for future reference. What do you do drive it for 30 or 45 minutes then stop let it sit for 1/2 hour have lunch then try and start it again ?

I asked the guy when he sold it to me if it started when hot so who can you trust.

Another testimony on a PS, just called a man who is selling one . 330 thousand miles on a 1997 and never had done anything to the engine except routine maintenance so those things pretty much speak for themselves.

I hate to admit it, those motors must be awesome. I have talked to so many people who have boughten them and drove them for like over a decade and close to 2 and did practically nothing to them.

I have only talked to a few who got stung by them and only because they did not have the cash to do the good tune up needed.

Don't be so afraid of computers... they have their ups and downs but they can be very helpful and sometimes you'll be glad they're there.

I have no problem with computers, I have a problem with things that need lots of electrical parts to run. We do not make the electrical components here any longer and when the petro $ gets done away with it could be we are cut off to the electronic parts that make the newer stuff go.
