Engine Block Vin?

I have a 1983 E250 Getaway Van, with a 302. I am trying to find the last 6 digits of the VIN stamped on the block. I have the engine out and I don't see any numbers. I looked above the starter for the casting date I don't see any numbers at all. I am trying to find proof that this is the original engine put in at the factory when this van was built.

You won't find any vehicle specific info stamped into the block, the casting number will just tell you the vintage of the casting that was used to make it and what division paid for it. The actual engine could have been build at any time after that by any division though it was usually within about a year or so of the casting date and it would be unusual to find a car engine in a truck.
